If you’re like me, your animals aren’t simply pets; they’re a part of your family.
We went eleven years without a dog; we weren’t home enough to give one proper attention. But since we moved the studio home, I’m here much of the time, and we decided it was time to get a dog again.
After several false starts, we found Marley, an 8 month old Golden Retriever. He was meant to be our dog, no doubt about it. It didn’t take 24 hours before he’d totally wormed his way into our hearts, not to mention our household. He’s now my shadow, and I take him with me whenever I can. We go walking every morning (and his favorite treat for walking well is to greet the kids at Morningside School). We go to the dogpark every evening. He gets to romp and play with the other dogs, and I have fun talking with all the other dog owners who feel the same way about their dogs as I do about mine.
I’d forgotten just how much fun it was to have one. Quick with a wag of the tail, and a slurp of the tongue, and they can turn a bad mood into a great one in an instant. Who else in this world waits with great anticipation your return home. I can be gone all of 20 minutes, and it’s like he hasn’t seen me in a year when I return.
Who else loves you so unconditionally? None of those complex human emotions that make people relationships so complicated sometimes; just pure unmitigated love, and pure joy just to be in your presence.
But the sad part is that they are only with us for a relatively short time. Big dogs might be 10 years or less; smaller ones a bit longer, but regardless, it’s entirely too short. Each of our Old English Sheepdogs lasted about 11 years, and as much as I already love Marley, I realize that my time with him will be way too short.
So, in honor of these very special relationships, on Saturday, October, 17 and Sunday October 18 ,we’re having a special portrait event for dogs and their families.
Whether it’s formal or fun, whether it’s you and your best friend, the kids and the dog, or the whole family, we’ll create a beautiful story-telling portrait that will display the wonderful relationship between youyour dog forever.
We’ll be photographing at Bush Park, and we’ll schedule an hour for each session, so there’s plenty of time to get the dog settled, decide what we’re going to do.
The second best part of this event is that your $25 session fee will be donated to the Humane Society, so they can continue to find FOREVER HOMES for all the animals in their care.
The best part is you’ll end up with a beautiful portrait that you’ll enjoy forever. We’ll have special packages and pricing for this event as well.
Call the studio today to set you appointment. We’ll start at 9:00 on Saturday and 1:00 on Sunday.
